  WINNIPEG A Winnipeg woman received an unpleasant surprise when she opened her latest water bill: it was 20 times higher than her last one. Kim Heinrichs has lived in her St. Norbert home for nearly two years. She rents it with her son and is responsible for the water bill. Most of the time when we started here it was like $96, just over $100 because it s just me and him, said Heinrichs. Since moving in, her lowest water bill was about $82 while the highest was $323. MKO calls for First Nation representation on federal immunization committee

  WINNIPEG Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc. (MKO) is encouraging First Nation leadership and health human resources to begin preparing for an increase in COVID-19 vaccines, as more shipments are expected in the coming weeks. On Thursday, the MKO gave an update on the COVID-19 vaccine during a virtual news conference, saying it has started to plan for the second phase of the First Nation vaccine rollout. “Some promising signs on the vaccine front,” said Dr. Michael Routledge, the medical advisor for the MKO and the health entity Keewatinohk Inniniw Minoayawin. “Obviously we’d like to get the vaccine out faster and hopefully that will speed up in the next couple of weeks as we expect more shipments.”

COVID-19 infections among health-care workers tripled since July: CIHI

In the span of nearly six months, the number of health-care workers that were infected with COVID-19 tripled in Canada – with health-care workers in Manitoba and other western provinces seeing the sharpest increase, according to new data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).
